Search and Recovery (Public Safety Dive Team Operations)

New Bedford, MA

May 17-19, 2002

The MPSDA will be running a Search and Recovery class in Public Safety Dive Team Operations. Some of the topics will include the selection, training, and equipping of dive team members, using appropriate search patterns, interviewing witnesses and family, dealing with the media, proper investigative techniques of the drowing death, the sinking dynamics of vehicles and buses, and a variety of other subjects. There will be 12 hours of classroom, 4 hours of pool work, and 8 hours of open water work. The program is open to all public safety divers as well as to their tenders. The costs of the training is $135 for divers and $100 for tenders.
